Blog Post 2

Mr. Dancealot
This was a very informative video that proves that there is more to teaching than reading a power point. Students need to not only understand the concept of the information being taught but also how to perform the information being taught. Mr. Dancealot never kept his students interested in the subject being taught nor did he encourage interaction with the students. Mr. Dancealot may need a few improvements in his teaching skills.

Teaching in the 21st century
Roberts thinks that  teaching in the 21st century is about taking advantage of the technology that is offered within the classroom.. It is about getting the students involved in something that they will need to know how to use for the rest of their lives. To Roberts it is not only about using the technology but about  getting the children engaged in the work that they must do. Roberts sees teaching changing in a positive way if we start using more technology in the classrooms. He also believes that technology will get both the student and teacher more involved, and will also make the students learn in a way that just using a power point or lecture couldn't do. I believe that Roberts is absolutely right about using technology in the classroom. Students need to be shown how to use the technology around us because it will only help them in the future. Technology will affect every teacher and how they teach in the near future. There are already schools that use lots of technology in its classrooms today, and the numbers are only going to rise. So, future educators need to already know how to use and take advantage of the technology in the classroom.

The Networked Student
The student uses many resources to create a knowledge base that will help  expand his or her knowledge of American Psychology far beyond textbooks. With the help of his supportive teacher the student is able to set up a network of other students. This network of other students will widen the students diversity of the subject. The student then researches his topic and creates a blog. Itunes can also be an useful tool when researching because it contains informative podcast. In this blog other students may comment leaving their opinions and knowledge. These useful ways of technology has helped the student broaden his knowledge of American Psychology. These skills are the future of the 21st century.

Harness Your Students’ Digital Smarts
Vicki Davis has taught her students experience and  trends. They have become students with a new perspective. No pencil or paper is needed in her class because, as stated by Vicki, only certain types of children will succeed with paper and pencil. Computer based learning will help every child succeed, and every child will learn to use the technology. Information technology has grown so much in today’s society, and it is simply computer based learning. With computer based learning, students like Vicki’s class will be able to learn how to blog, post research, connect to the web and share ideas. It also allows them to meet new people, and learn many things like definitions to words that they never used or heard before. Technology is very essential for all present and future educators and students.

If I had a Classroom it would look like

If I had a classroom it would be like...
I would be teaching Kindergarten so everything would be new and exciting for them.

What do you want your students to be able to do…
I want my students to be able to conduct themselves as respectful children. I will expect them to respect me, other staff, and their parents. i hope that if they learn at least one thing from my class it would be that.

I want my students to know
I am always willing to help them in any way. I never want them to be scared to ask me a question or tell me if something is going on.

The tools I will use in my classroom…
I will use the A Beka Book curriculum to teach because it incorporates Christ in learning. Also I will use computers and smart boards to keep my students up to date with technology.

What will be your primary way of teaching your students what you want them to know and to do…
I want my classroom to be full of fun activities to keep my kids wanting to learn and be at school. Having fun will be the methods I use to help motivate my students and keep them interested.

What role will the students play in the classroom and how will they participate…
The students will always have a role within the classroom. I will encourage the students and praise the students for doing their best. The student’s artwork will be displayed within my classroom and the hall. I hope that the numerous activities that are held  will keep the kids motivated to learn and come to school. We will host activities such as. We will count down the 100 days of school and have a big bash on the 100th day. On the 100th day the children will have a parade throwing their 100 objects that they have chosen to bring to school that day. On Dr. Seuss’s birthday the staff will dress up as a Dr. Seuss character and the children will wear their Dr. Seuss hats.  We will have green eggs and ham for lunch and the whole day will just be a celebration. We will support the St. Jude Trike-A-Thon and raise money for their cause.  The kids will be able to bring their bikes on the Trike-A-Thon day and ride for the cause. We also will have other fun events such as harvest parties and Easter celebrations.
